HTSA Technical Excellence 201: Audio/Video Intensive – Registration Coming

The second course in the series, Technical Excellence 201: Audio/Video Intensive, is designed to quickly and efficiently educate technicians with minimal to moderate experience and equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to complete real-world job site tasks successfully.

Who Should Attend?

New to moderately experienced technicians (6 months to 3 years)

What You Will Learn – Audio/Video Intensive

Participants will receive instruction on all topics related to the deployment, verification, and maintenance of various technologies commonly required to support audiovisual and residential entertainment systems, including loudspeakers, amplifiers, receivers, AV distribution systems, flat panel and projection display systems, and more.

Learners will be introduced to the basics of audio signals, video signals, immersive audio formats, HDMI features and functionality, equipment installation and rack systems, display and projection system mounting, as well as the general work performed by a technician during the final phase of a project. This course also includes an introduction to project management and the processes and common stakeholders involved in most integration projects.

Throughout this comprehensive learning, participants will perform scenario-based activities related to common situations which occur on real world projects. These activities, in conjunction with classroom instruction, are designed to enhance the learning experience and support the development of critical job skills modern integration companies are seeking. During the program, under the guidance and instruction of seasoned integrators, learners will utilize job documentation and industry standards to perform speaker installation and connection, equipment mounting and cable management in a rack system, display and projector installation, component initialization and configuration, and system verification in a lab that emulates a residential entertainment environment.

Upon completion of the program, participants should be prepared to complete the tasks commonly associated with the deployment of audiovisual systems safely and efficiently with minimal supervision, while continuing to learn and advance their career in the industry.

This course serves as the first part of a two-part program meant to prepare a new technician for a leadership position. The follow-up course covers additional information on common communication and control technologies as well as sub-systems typically integrated in residential projects. Once a learner completes the entire program, with the support of the instructors and course materials such as the detailed, easy-to-follow textbook and lab guide, HTSA recommends taking the CEDIA Integrated Systems Technician Certification.

Course materials, including textbooks and lab guides, as well as all necessary tools, will be provided. However, participants are welcome to bring their personal tools to use when performing lab activities if they wish.
